The last couple of weeks!

Sooo I am beginning to lag with my updates a bit. It's been about 2 weeks now, oops!
I have done a few fun things since, so at least I have something to update about now.
Last Saturday I went to seeee The Lion King musical in London which was fun. It was kinda a very late birthday thing, lol. The musical was awesommme. It had puppets, like in War Horse, but they were more artsy than realistic and it looked really good. There was a bebbeh elephant which was my favourite.

I also had some belated birthday presents from my friends. They made me a collage-y thing with pictures of my pets which is cuuuute. And Kirsty made me some soap with her new found hobby. It smells of parma violets, which I always think smell more like soap than sweets, so that makes sense! They also gave me a sewing box, a knitted turtle and book of cute, strange toy knitting patterns that I was looking through in Hobbycraft the other week. I discovered there is a whoooole website of them :D I have already made a teeny hamster toy, hehe. I shall have to make an army of them and then take pictures. They knit up veeery quickly.

Then this week I had some work experience at a kennels and cattery. It was a bit last minute organising it because they had another work experience person cancel. It was really fun, I met lots of cute dogs and cats. Including a rather drooly spaniel and an apparently evil cat with the loudest purr in the world. The weather this week has been reeeeeally nice, so it was good walking the dogs in the sun. :)

Ooh, I nearly forgot, but Happy Easter! I don't really celebrate Easter but I like the chocolate ^_^ I have a chocolate Thorntons bunny and a Cadbury's caramel easter egg to make my way through now.

That's all for now. I'll try not to leave it so long before I next update!

Horses, Soap and Cats.

The weather has been wooonderful for the past few days, although it did rain a little this afternoon.

I went to see the play War Horse in London on Thursday. It was a Christmas present to my nan. The show was completely booked up from Christmas so they were the earliest tickets we could get! So it ended up being a rather late Christmas present but oh well.

The play was really good and I was quite amazed by the puppets. They moved like real animals! It was quite sad though and I didn't realise quite how many horses were used in WW1. Apprently 1 million went over to France and only 62k came back. The ones that didn't die in combat were probably made into burgers :|

Other than that I have been spending silly amounts of time sitting in the sun and trying to do work. Went to Hobbycraft with some friends yesterday. I managed not to buy anything, so I am proud of myself! Kirsty is trying to find a new hobby and has made her first foray into soap-making!

Have also been trying to sort out some work experience for over summer. I have had a few 'no's but one kennel and cattery have said 'yes' :) So I need to sort out some dates for that. I have been depressing myself by looking at jobs and also looking into studying Chemistry A level again. It nearly killed me last time but I think I could get an A if I did it again.

Ooh, and it was Charlie's birthday on Saturday! He is one year old already.
Here is a picture of him at 18 days old with tiny ear nubblets:

Aaand this is him now, looking like a proper cat:

So I think that's all for now! I'm proud I have managed to keep this blog alive for over a week now :D

Some of my knits

Thought I would post a few of the knitted things I have made :)
I started knitting at the end of 2009 so that I could join in with a project at my uni that involved knitting hats and clothes for the premature babies at the medical school. I am still not the best at it but I hope to improve!

Here are a few mini hats I made for the Innocent Smoothie Big Knit project thing. Innocent had an advertising campaign a while ago with talking bunnies which I liked, which is why I decided to make some bunny hats. I sort of made it up as I went along which is why the one on the left has a really fat face and the middle one looks a lot better! I like them and I think I might try to make more of them for the Big Knit this year.

Here is the cardigan that nearly killed me. But it fits so I suppose that is some sort of success. I will never ever make something with this much stockinette ever again. It was soooo boring. I think I am more suited to knitting little toys and things because otherwise I get bored easily. This was quite good for practice though I suppose.

This is a bunny with a coat and scarf that I sold to raise money for some animal rescues. He has a pompom tail too but you can't see from the picture.
(Pattern)

Another charity bunny. This time a chocolate easter bunny! For the Make Mine Chocolate-ers on a diet ;) He has a little ribbon and a bell as well. I might make some more if I get a chance. I like the pattern!
(Pattern)

Last is a pair of handwarmers although I only have a picture of one hand. It was too hard for me to take a picture of them both while on, lol. Aaaanyway, this was an attempt to keep my hands from freezing while in my draughty un-insulated student house over winter. The knitting kept my hands warm and so did the result so it was win-win!
(Pattern)

Sooo those are most of the things I have photos of at the moment. Not knitting anything at the moment. I shall have to have a browse of Ravelry for some ideas I think!

Bye for now

Mak the Penguin!

Hi!
I felt like knitting something the other day and Kirsty suggested a penguin. Since I had the right colour wool (well... close enough) I though I would give it a go. Sooo, I introduce, Mak the penguin:
(Pattern from here)

He is currently called Mak after the pattern but name suggestions are most welcome. As long as it's not Tiki... or Chicken...
The pattern asked for 3.25mm needles and I could only find one 3.25 double pointed needle so I went for 4mm instead which means the stuffing shows through a little bit :( I also didn't have any yellow wool for the feet and beak so I used a beige-y gold-y colour which I had got to make a meerkat for Kirsty last year. Aaaanyway, I think he is quite cute ^_^

Other than that I haven't done too much today. Mostly sorting out the animals. My mum looks after them well while I'm at uni but there are always things to do when I got back. Ruby the rabbit has had rather a fetching haircut since her mane was getting matted. Pipkin obviously isn't fulfilling his grooming duties. Here is a picture of the rabbits just cause they are cute:

Pipkin is the netherland dwarf and Ruby is the lionhead with the rather pathetic mane. It has grown much longer than that this year. I do not know why.

Aaanyway, that's it for today. I am proud I have managed to update two days in a row :D

Bye for now!

Home for Easter!

So it looks like I'm not going to manage to update this every day. I'll aim for every few days instead!

Not that much to write about really. Had quite a busy day today. This morning I got up early to go over to an animal rescue I help out at on Sundays. Cuddled some bunnies and walked some dogs for a few hours. Theeen I went straight from there to my Nan's house due to it being Mother's Day and my mum going up to visit her. Had a rather gooood roast dinner *drool*

Theeen drove from there home. I am staying home for a few weeks for the Easter holidays. Is good to see my animals again :) Josie is currently purring on my lap.
This is Josie:

I'm not supposed to have favourites but she is my favourite :) Even though she is rather stumpy for a cat, and super grumpy.

Oooh, also I got a fancy new phone. It's not really a super good one but I don't really follow all the new gadget-y things so it's quite exciting to me, lol. I can use Facebook on it and everything :)

Sooo that's about it! I'll try to write again soon. I'm sure Kirsty will remind me.

First post!

Sooo a blog. I wonder how long I will keep updating it this time! Apparently I made this blog back in February 2010 but never used it. Oops!

The name comes from the poem Dream Within a Dream by Edgar Allen Poe if anyone is wondering. It’s rather a good poem, and matches my website, which is also very very rarely updated.

I guess this blog will be for anything interesting that happens. Probably not an awful lot!

Oooh, and as it's April fools day, my favourite April fools joke is this. I want a pet mini giraffe!

Bye for now
